Dear Ready, Set, Gold! Community,

Thanks to your partnership and support, our 20th year of Olympians and Paralympians inspiring students and impacting communities was a tremendous success. The numbers tell an incredible story, but the true impact of Ready, Set, Gold! is found in the personal connections our athletes make with young people. By sharing their journeys and combining fitness with social-emotional learning, our athletes show students what it means to build confidence, develop a growth mindset, overcome challenges, and strive to be their best.

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to Los Angeles in just two short years, we have an extraordinary opportunity to turn the excitement of LA28 into a lasting impact. By introducing students to Olympic and Paralympic sports and values, we’re not only building excitement for the Games—we’re helping young people develop physical and emotional skills they can carry with them for a lifetime.

The legacy of the Games begins with the athletes who dreamed, trained, competed, faced setbacks, persevered, and ultimately reached goals that once seemed impossible. Those are the lessons our Olympians and Paralympians bring to students every day: dream big, work toward your goals, learn from challenges, and be inspired by those around you.

As we celebrate 20 years of Ready, Set, Gold!, we’re also looking ahead to what comes next. Your support is critical to expanding the reach and impact of our athletes and ensuring even more young people have the opportunity to learn from their stories.

Thank you for being part of our first 20 years. Together, let’s build the next 20.

2025-26 Program Year Wrap!

Ready, Set, Gold! reached a record 52 schools across Southern California this year, with nearly 20,000 students participating in our assemblies and physical education sessions!

During school assemblies, RSG! Olympians and Paralympians shared their personal journeys, introduced students to the Olympic and Paralympic Values, and built excitement for the upcoming LA28 Games. In physical education sessions, our athletes combined fitness with social-emotional learning to make getting active fun and meaningful. Through exercises focused on strength, endurance, and other fitness fundamentals, students learned to build confidence, embrace challenges, and develop a growth mindset that can help them both in and out of the classroom.

Our athletes also created memorable moments throughout the year. Zambian Olympian Prince Mumba shared with students that he didn’t own his first pair of shoes until he was 10 years old, encouraging them to appreciate the opportunities and resources they have. USA Olympian Katrina Young brought a different kind of inspiration, writing and performing an original song, Trust Myself, with middle school students during a Wellness Wednesday session and USA Paralympian Isaac Jean-Paul led an Olympic & Paralympic Day celebration at Dolores T. Richardson School in Inglewood with a dance-off during relay races.

Thank you to our school partners, PE teachers, PTA volunteers, and, of course, our incredible Olympians and Paralympians for helping us make a lasting, positive impact on thousands of students this year.

Summer Event Highlights

Ready, Set, Gold! at LA28's Olympic & Paralympic Day of Sport in Long Beach

The Ready, Set, Gold! Event Program had an incredible summer, reaching more than 15,000 kids, families, and community members across Southern California. The summer kicked off at the Rams Girls Flag Football Jamboree in Long Beach, where RSG! Olympians and Paralympians led rugby and track clinics for young athletes. We then joined two YMCA events—Healthy Kids Play Day at the LA Memorial Coliseum and the Crenshaw Classic Track Meet—where our athletes engaged with families, coached participants, and shared inspiration from their own Olympic and Paralympic journeys.

A highlight of the summer was the second annual LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Day of Sport in Long Beach. More than 750 campers from 24 Parks, Recreation and Marine sites came together at Houghton Park to experience a variety of sports alongside RSG! Olympians and Paralympians, with additional activities from the LA Rams and LA Galaxy. A huge thank you to the City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine staff, Gay For Good, West Coast Sports Associates, and LA28 for working together to create an unforgettable day for local youth!

The action continued throughout the summer with the jk livin Foundation Field Day, Friendship Foundation Summer Camp, Long Beach Triathlon and Splash & Dash, and Dodgers Day at Heartwell Park. From cycling and track to fencing with pool noodles, each event gave kids the opportunity to try something new, get active, and connect with Olympians and Paralympians in their communities.

Thank you to all of our partners and sponsors who make it possible for Ready, Set, Gold! to reach thousands of kids and families throughout Southern California.

GPSN Summer of Joy Program

The learning and fun continued this summer as Ready, Set, Gold! partnered with GPSN’s Summer of Joy program to serve 12 LAUSD schools through a unique professional development and student enrichment initiative.

Olympian Katrina Young developed an exercise-based curriculum that combined physical activity, friendly competition, and social-emotional learning, with a focus on building students’ growth mindsets. During the first visit, an RSG! Olympian or Paralympian introduced the curriculum to students while modeling the activities for Beyond the Bell staff. On the second visit, staff took the lead while the athlete provided support and guidance—giving educators the tools and confidence to continue delivering the programming on their own.

By incorporating professional development into the program, the impact of each Olympian and Paralympian reaches far beyond their individual school visits. Staff are equipped with resources and strategies they can continue using with students throughout the summer and beyond.

Thank you to GPSN and LAUSD Beyond the Bell staff for the opportunity to enhance summer enrichment programming and bring the Ready, Set, Gold! experience to students across Los Angeles!

Celebrating Our Community with the LA Sparks

Ready, Set, Gold! was proud to bring together Southern California Olympians & Paralympians (SCOPA), RSG! athletes, and students from ICEF View Park High School for a special night at the LA Sparks vs. Atlanta Dream WNBA game!

Our Olympians and Paralympians received a special in-game recognition on the jumbotron, while students from ICEF View Park’s renowned rugby program took the court and put their passing skills to work, tossing T-shirts to fans throughout the arena.

A huge thank you to the LA Sparks and LA Sports Council for providing tickets and food for our guests and creating a memorable experience that celebrated the impact we make together in our community!
